mist beneath clouds

as i have previously stated, rainy days are my favorite days. the quickest way for me to be inspired to write is to stare out into a steady downpour. there's something eerily wonderful about walking beneath thick clouds through a light drizzle. throw in a little wind, and i've been captured completely.

my mind wanders in the rain. it travels to distant realms and encounters extraordinary people. when it rains, i'm thrust into the midst of great warriors on their way to battle. i see the strong women they think they're leaving behind, but who really have a plot of their own to conquer the villain. i visit with the wise old mentors of past generations, and i learn the secrets of an ancient twisted forest.

it doesn't really take much to excite my mind - just a few drops of water between sky and earth. it's during those moments that the fantasy within me leaks out, merging my worlds together for a brief instant. rain is most definitely inspiring. what inspires you?

i am not a blogger...

for the past 2 years i have been asked by friends and family to start a blog. i have ignored their pleas, saying that i simply don't have time to display my thoughts to the public. well, i was wrong. you can make time for anything. you just need to feel like it has some level of importance. i suppose my friends and family have won. i am officially a blogger.

i have been contemplating what i should tell my readers. would they want to know when's my favorite time of day to write? (it's late afternoon or evening. if it's raining, then that is truly my favorite time to write.) would they rather like to know how i come up with my stories? (the words just come to me. i imagine scenes in my head and the story follows.) or would they just want to know what my favorite color is? (that's an easy one. my favorite color is blue. it always has been, ever since before i could remember. other little girls liked pink, never me.) i realized after a while though that if you (my readers) would like to know something about me, you could ask me on my website: http://mlgreye.com/ or on my facebook (www.facebook.com/mlgreye / www.facebook.com/theotherworlds) and twitter (http://twitter.com/mlgreye) pages. then again, you could always ask me questions on my blog. whether or not i answer them in a post, is up to me.

in the future, i will post items regarding my own personal writing, or my love for creating fiction. i may even throw in some childhood memories now and then, the ones that helped shape me into who i am today. it all will just depend on my mood...

the basics

before i begin, there are a few personal rules i must clarify for you...

1) i use lowercase on purpose when i write here. why? because everywhere i go, i must use proper punctuation. it gets tedious sometimes. so, here in my blog, i will do as i please and type in lowercase.

2) as this is my blog, i will write what i want. you may give me your requests, but i may not choose to indulge in them.

3) despite popular belief, all authors are not excellent spellers. i am living proof of this. if you happen across a misspelled word, please let me know in a pleasant fashion and i'll most likely change it.

4)  follow me at your own risk. i may not always be politically correct or positive, but i will be honest. my blog is my opinion. it's basically what lies behind the curtain of m.l. greye. but if there is ever a subject you feel exceptionally strong about, you can always email me.

5) my posts will often be about fiction. as i am a young adult fantasy novelist, my life revolves around it. i am obsessed with finding fantasy in reality.

6) i really do hope you enjoy what you read.
